Corn | Grains, Feed and Oilseeds
It is a herbaceous plant from the wheat family that is used in the feed industry for animal feed and from which flour is obtained. Grain corn is the most important grain used as an energy supplement in the rations of farm animals. Considered as a standard grain, corn is a delicious energy source that is low in crude fiber. Additionally, since corn does not contain any significant anti-nutritive substances, it can be used in animal feeding with minimal processing. While ruminant animals effectively consume whole, slightly broken, crushed or cooked (flake) processed corn, poultry consume corn after grinding it to a certain particle size. It is also used in corn, fish and pet rations.
